The public preview is deliberately populated with fictional scanner names, systems, sites, frequencies, talkgroups, accounts, paths, and activity. No owner's personal information is embedded in the application demo, website copy, screenshots, documentation, or sample data.

Disclosures

Please read before you buy a cable, trust a write, or expect support for an unlisted radio.

Tested models only: BCD536HP, BCD996P2, BCD260DN, BCT15X, and SDS200. Similar Uniden SKUs may work by family, but they are not claimed as tested.
Country / market variants: radios sold for other countries (or region-locked firmware / band plans) may not be supported, may Detect poorly, or may refuse commands STW expects on US/Canada field units.
Firmware flashing: STW will never offer firmware update / flash / install. Official Uniden updaters and manufacturer tools only. We may show version info and link to Uniden’s pages — nothing more.
Digital systems (read / write): field work focuses on P25 and DMR where the connected radio supports them. Other digital systems (for example NXDN trunking, ProVoice, EDACS/LTR digital hybrids, or vendor-specific modes) may not be supported for import, Drop, or Favorites write. Conventional NXDN on 260 is limited to what that radio can hold. Capability gates refuse types the radio cannot program.
Per-radio honesty (memory models): Among tested units, only BCD260DN is a traditional fixed-bank scanner (10 × 100). BCT15X and BCD996P2 use Uniden DMA (15X Dynamic Memory Architecture; 996P2 Advanced Dynamic Memory System) — systems → groups → channels, not banks. SDS200 and BCD536HP are not bank-style either: they are database-driven, dynamic memory scanners (Favorites / .hpd on SD). 15X is not a P25/DMR twin of the 996. Favorites desks are for SDS/x36-class workflows, not every Uniden ever made.
Other brands: Whistler TRX-1 / TRX-2 and non-Uniden scanners are not supported for programming.
No virtual scanner / fake front panel in the initial release. The live path is Dashboard + Timeline + Recordings + statistics/health + Discovery; deeper model-specific control is post-release.
Backup before write: any programming tool can leave a radio in a bad state if USB drops mid-job. Back up first; STW verifies where it can, but you own the radio contents.
Legal use: you are responsible for following local laws on listening, recording, and storing frequencies. STW does not grant permission to monitor restricted services.
RadioReference: optional direct database access requires the customer’s eligible RR account and remains subject to RR’s terms. Customer credentials stay on the PC; the commercial application key is not requested in the normal user interface; Probe reports omit passwords and keys.
Tone-Out / SAME: PC audio path (not a substitute for the radio’s own tone-out). Results depend on audio quality, device choice, and RF. Long single tones without a dual-tone B are not treated as full QCII pages.
BCD260DN Sync clock: not available over serial on current field firmware — set time on the radio menu.
Platform: Windows 10/11 + WebView2. No Mac/Linux app. Current public artifact is a portable .exe, not a full Setup or USB driver pack.
Not affiliated with Uniden, RadioReference, Whistler, or any scanner manufacturer. Product names are their trademarks.
No warranty of uninterrupted service: software is provided as-is for hobby / professional monitoring workflows; support is best-effort via email and Probe reports.
Future scanner families: STW does not claim a radio as supported until its hardware path is actually validated. Planned or experimental adapters stay labeled that way until bench testing is complete.
